About Us
Boy Scout Troop 42 is chartered by Trinity Baptist Church in Christiansburg, Virginia.  We meet in the back of the church on Monday evenings, 7pm.

Mr. Gary Brumfield is the Scoutmaster of Troop 42. With Assistant Scoutmaster Jack Atkins and a host of volunteer committee members, merit badge counselors and strong parents, they provide training and direction as the boys themselves run the troop.

Our leaders are trained and continuously improving their skills. Mr. Brumfield and Mr. Atkins recently completed their Wood Badge training and ticket, culminating in their induction into scoutings highest troop leadership training.

Troop 42 is in the Boy Scouts of America New River District of the Blue Ridge Mountains Council. 30 minutes to the north is our council headquarters, while 30 minutes to the south is the largest scout owned reservation east of the Mississippi.

Troop 42 history
Troop 42 started in Christiansburg, Virginia in 1950.  In 2005, Mr. Gary Brumfield, longtime member of Trinity Baptist Church, and Mr. Jack Atkins, both former scouts of the original troop, transfered and restarted the Troop with twelve boys. The mission is to equip young men with the skills and qualities needed to reach Eagle Scout.
Troop 42 has grown each year with monthly campouts, hikes or activities, summer camp at Blue Ridge Scout Reservation, and weekly meetings of the patrols and troop.

Trinity Baptist Church

Trinity Baptist Church recently celebrated its 40th year of ministry: From the basement to a large house and then to a church building on Radford Road.  From there they moved to the present location.  Trinity Baptist began ministry with a desire to reach people in our community for Christ and to train them in the ways of the Lord.  That is still the desire today but it has grown to embrace the people of the world who have not had the opportunities to hear what they enjoy.
